About the CompTIA AutoOps+ AT0-001 Exam

The live CompTIA AutoOps+ AT0-001 V1 examination contains a maximum of 60 multiple-choice and performance-based questions. Candidates receive 60 minutes to complete the assessment.

CompTIA recommends two to three years of experience in a core IT operations role, such as network administration, systems administration or cloud administration. Although there are no compulsory certification prerequisites, knowledge equivalent to CompTIA Network+, Linux+, Cloud+ or Server+ is recommended.

Candidates should confirm current requirements on the official CompTIA AutoOps+ certification page before registering. The examination can be scheduled through the Pearson VUE CompTIA testing portal.

Score and Pass Mark

The passing score for CompTIA AutoOps+ AT0-001 is 600 on a scale of 100 to 900.

This is a scaled score rather than a simple percentage. Therefore, a score of 600 does not mean that candidates must answer a fixed percentage of questions correctly. CompTIA does not publish the exact number of correct answers required, and individual questions may carry different weights.

With a maximum of 60 questions and a 60-minute limit, candidates have approximately one minute per question. Performance-based questions may require more time because they involve troubleshooting, configuration or workflow analysis. Candidates should answer every question, flag difficult items for review and reserve enough time for the practical scenarios.

AT0-001 Exam Domains

Automation Coding Concepts — 31%

This is the largest AT0-001 domain. It covers coding techniques used to automate enterprise IT operations.

Topics include variables, local and global scope, conditional statements, iterations, parameters, functions, application logs, regular expressions and data types. Candidates must also understand JSON, YAML and command-line utilities such as grep, awk, sed, jq and PowerShell cmdlets.

The domain covers dependency management, Git operations, branching, semantic versioning, commit workflows, linting and secrets detection. Infrastructure-as-code principles include reusability, immutability, idempotency and declarative versus imperative approaches.

Use the official Git documentation to reinforce version-control concepts and commands.

System Configuration — 25%

Learn how automation supports consistent system configuration and provisioning across enterprise environments.

The course covers configuration drift, state management, certificates, access control lists, subnets, routers, load balancers, firewalls, route tables and DNS. You will compare agent-based and agentless automation, local and remote execution, push and pull provisioning, and event-driven automation.

Additional topics include REST APIs, authentication, HTTP methods, status codes, configuration files and troubleshooting API communication, agent, certificate and application failures.

Practical examples reinforce infrastructure automation concepts found in the Ansible documentation and Terraform documentation.

Continuous Integration — 24%

Build and troubleshoot continuous integration pipelines that automatically validate, test and package code.

Coverage includes pipeline definitions, stages, jobs, triggers, webhooks, task runners, orchestration, parallel execution and dependency management. You will also study artifact repositories, software bills of materials, secrets vaults, credential rotation and secure pipeline access.

Testing and security topics include linting, unit testing, integration testing, vulnerability scanning, secrets detection and automated quality gates.

Resources such as the Jenkins documentation and GitHub Actions documentation provide additional examples of modern CI workflows.

Continuous Delivery — 20%

Learn how to deliver software and infrastructure changes safely, reliably and efficiently.

This domain covers canary, blue-green, rolling and in-place deployment strategies. Candidates must understand load testing, regression testing, integration testing, smoke testing, post-deployment validation, hotfixes and rollback procedures.

The course also examines service-level indicators, service-level objectives, service-level agreements, mean time to recovery, feedback loops, observability, identity and access management, and secure connections to cloud and infrastructure providers.

Performance-Based Question Preparation

Practical exercises prepare you to:
